European Partnership for research in radiation protection and detection of ionizing radiation
The European Commission Partnership will ensure the availability of and facilitate access to state-of-the-art research infrastructures required to implement the research roadmap. This will be done coherently with action 12 (European Facility in Nuclear Research). The Commission invites proposals for the establishment of the European Partnership for research in radiation protection and detection of ionizing radiation.
Cross-sectorial synergies and new applications of nuclear technologies
Nuclear and radiation technologies are present in a wide variety of applications in industry, research, health, food, and agriculture, environment, security, space, and cultural heritage. Ionizing radiation (IR) is used in many domains like sterilization, manufacturing, non-destructive testing and detection, and environmental applications. Objectives of Horizon Europe should be reflected in this action.
LCA and design for sustainable circularity - holistic approach for zero-emission mobility solutions and related battery value chain (2ZERO & Batteries Partnership)
The project addressing this “Batteries-2Zero” Joint Call approaches a commonly accepted Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of zero-emission road transport solutions, focusing on zero-emission vehicles and their batteries, as one of their central components, as well as other applications of the same types of battery cells (e.g. industrial, stationary applications etc.).
Hyper powered vessel battery charging system (ZEWT Partnership)
The European Green Deal refers to the need to achieve clean, climate neutral shipping and waterborne operations and to the importance of research and innovation in this respect.
Greenhouse gas aviation emissions reduction technologies towards climate neutrality by 2050
The European Green Deal refers to the need to achieve clean, climate-neutral shipping and waterborne operations and to the importance of research and innovation in this respect. Waterborne transport, in particular where large sea-going vessels are used, remains an important emitter of GHG and the sector needs to step up its efforts on a significant scale and through a wide range of measures.
Socio-economic issues related to nuclear technologies
The analysis of the possible contribution of nuclear energy to EU climate neutrality by 2050 should consider all the options for how nuclear energy could contribute to meeting the climate target, The analysis of the available and close to market nuclear technologies should be performed, covering the full development cycle from research and development, to demonstration and early-stage deployment (techno-economic evaluation).
Supporting and standardising climate services
The topic is intended to improve the delivery of quality control and standards (including open and licensed) for climate services and to guarantee suitability, quality, and performance of digital solutions to manage climate risks and enhance adaptive capacities.
Wellcome Early-Career Awards
Research Enrichment – Public Engagement
This Wellcome Trust grant has been made available to facilitate researchers engage the public with their research. Researchers share their ideas with the public and in return get new perspectives on their research and can inspire learning, enhance research and help to improve health.
World Bank Group Africa Fellowship Program
The World Bank Group (WBG) Africa Fellowship Program targets young, talented African nationals who are completing, or have recently completed their Ph.D. in an area relevant to the World Bank’s work. The fellowship program has been very successful since its inception, building a strong pipeline of young African talent interested in a career in development, international institutions, African governments, think tanks, and academia.
Centre of excellence on inclusive gender equality in Research & Innovation
Evidence-based decision-making to change social norms towards zero food waste
In line with the European Green Deal priorities, the farm to fork strategy for a fair, healthy, and environmentally friendly food system, and the EU's climate ambition for 2030 and 2050, the successful proposal will support R&I to prevent and reduce food loss and waste, contributing to the transformation of food systems to deliver co-benefits for climate (mitigation and adaptation), biodiversity, environmental sustainability and circularity
Methane cracking to usable hydrogen and carbon
Proposals related to this call are expected to demonstrate significant advances with respect to already achieved results in Europe and outside, delivering a minimum of 50% and demonstrating the potential to achieve mass production and a competitive hydrogen cost and an improved climate performance with respect to current methane based, CO
Full-scale demonstration of heat upgrades technologies with supply temperature in the range 90 - 160°C
The objective of this call aims at satisfying the need for low-temperature heat in the relevant industrial sectors, by upgrading lower temperature heat flows, including from renewable heat sources, ambient heat, or industrial excess (waste) heat, as a cost-efficient way to improve energy efficiency and reduce the GHG emissions. The proposal should,
Safety of advanced and innovative nuclear designs and fuels: EUR 3 000 000 Grant
roposed research should support the safety assessment and development of advanced and innovative reactor safety designs and technologies for deployment in the medium and long term, including Research Reactors and the Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
Novel tandem, high efficiency Photovoltaic technologies targeting low cost production with earth abundant materials
Photovoltaic power generation is pivotal in the transition to a clean energy system and the achievement of the zero-emissions target. To that end, it is important to enhance affordability, security of supply and sustainability of PV technologies along with further efficiency improvements.
Senior Research Fellowship Programme: Theoretical & Experimental Physics
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light.
Incentive Grants for Women in STEM 2021
The aim of this grant is to retain women qualified in science or the engineering sciences and to provide them with a stable launchpad for an academic career. To this end, this grant supports women who are temporarily prevented from getting a contract, but who nevertheless, have a guaranteed prospect of a permanent (UD, UHD, professor) or Tenure Track* research position in science or engineering sciences.
NASA Postdoctoral Program: Utility of Satellite Retrievals in Weather Forecasting Tools
The CERES Cloud Working Group and LaRC Satellite ClOud and Radiative Property retrieval System(SatCORPS) team at NASA Langley work synergistically to produce global datasets of cloud properties and radiation parameters derived from passive visible and infrared sensors on sun-synchronous (e.g. Aqua, Terra, Suomi-NPP, and NOAA-series) and geostationary (e.g. GOES, Meteosat and Himawari) satellites.
